    There will be a lot of force on the rod if you have more than one piston
stuck, which is usually the case. And, in fact, it's rather hard to tell which
piston is stuck in, say, a four cylinder engine -- if all are, two are, etc.
    So let's assume that all four are stuck. Hammering on one can easily bend
the rod if you get that one loose and the others are still stuck.

   Never had a problem with that, but did melt the edge of an aluminum piston
once. 8-(
