    Judging from the proper gauges in the trucks and equipment at work, the
one in the middle would be around 180F.

    They've been known to stick, even when new.  Quality among manufacturers
varies, too.  The one in the last Caddy I had was scary; from cold, the
gauge would go to about 3/4 of the way open, then the thermostat would open
and the temp would drop.
    The turbos I've had ran noticeably warmer, but I'm not sure whether
that's related to the cooling system or more vigorous driving.
    Is the fan working?
