When you look at the proportions of 2 cycle I use, cetane or octane isn't
terribly significant (6oz to +1152oz,= 1:192 ratio). If I have it right and
we
assign 45 cetane to the fuel and be ludicrous and call 6 oz of anything 100
cetane, that would change the tank to 46.66 cetane. Likewise if we
call the oil (or whatever) 30 cetane, the tank would only drop to 44.55.
It seems to enhance the burn characteristics more than anything.
Someone here on the list came across some polymer that's being
experimented with to cause gas to burn more uniformly. It's a very
similar chemical to one that's in 2 cycle oil. My theory is that it's
making for a better burn. Thus the better mileage, quieter "knocking"
less smoke and better power. Cost, if you buy it right is about
equal to or a little better than the savings of fuel. I get it by the gallon
at
Walmart. Marc gets credit for discovering it's beneficial properties. BTW
I haven't heard from him for quite some time. Is he still here?
