Nate,
Don't give me this kind of stuff... It makes me cry!! Vehicle are a rip
off and a huge cost no matter what you drive. We're smart and minimize our
costs by driving VW Diesels. I'm going to really punish myself and
calculate the costs of my 2003 Ford F150 Supercrew (company truck). This
truck is the biggest pig I've ever had!! 22,000km on it and so far I've
averaged 10.8MPG!!!! It is the most brutal fuel consumer I've ever owned.
I guess the Chev 6.0 and the Dodge 5.9 are worse.
On a positive note, my order is in for a 2004 Jetta Wagon TDI, in the new
colour, spice red. 100HP engine too!! Phil has a picture of it at:
http://www.scottvw.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/000224.html
I can't wait and the only way we can justify a purchase like this is if we
keep it like we did with our '91 Jetta TD and put on 330,000km... Or more
Cheers,
Walter

Subject: [Vwdiesel] A New Jetta TDI in My Future? Maybee, Maybee Not

I'm toying with the idea of buying a new Jetta TDI
again. I just found this web site that provides cost
of ownership for 5 years for any vehicle you select.
For the 2003 Jetta TDI it was estimated to be about
$22,000 Wow! Here is the link:

http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ip?kbb.VA;746397;VA059&22309;sed&1675;Vol
kswagen;2003%20Jetta&M38M4A7;M38M4&&&&

I hope the link works. With a figure like that, I'll
think I will look for three or so years used one
first, or just put new struts in the '85 and just keep
driving it. Off the top of my head, I think I pay
about $2,000 per year for fuel, repair, and insurance/tags/inspection to
drive it 16,000 miles. I just can't seem to part with it!

_Nate
