My dad told me a story where an unchained oxygen tank
fell over in a university chemistry lab. On its way to
the floor, the valve struck the edge of a lab table
and broke off. The tank took off and went through two
or three cynderblock walls.

I saw an very interesting demonstration at my future
college's Chemistry Night in the '70s (I was still in
high school). The professor had a huge ballon, I think
a weather ballon, filled with two parts hydrogen and
one part oxygen by volume at the front of the lab.
About 70 people were seated in chairs lined up in
rows, beginning about 50 feet from the ballon. All the
windows were and both doors opened in the lab, and
little did I know I was in for the supprise of my
life. The professor lit a birthday candle attached to
a 15 foot or so pole and touched it to the balloon. He
had a face shield on, BTW. Can you say unbelieveable?
There was this huge orange white fireball and
shockwave and explosion. The shock wave just rocked
the room. If the windows were closed, they would have
been blown out. It scared the crap out of me, to say
the least. I'll never forget that! Unbelieveable!
