Ken take it slow.    Not being a mechanic I can identify with you problems.=
Had exactly the same problems with Ring # 1 NOW ?    hundreds of rings late=
r--- piece of cake.  I'll echo the rest . First fit the rings in block and =
make sure they do not butt up. Then check piston grooves.  . Next I bevel t=
he top of the bore  .to about 50 thou of an inch depth. I am looking at an =
aircraft cylinder right now and the bevel is 45 degree .But notice the diff=
erence AC (aircooled) always goes in top ring first. You are going bottom r=
ing first. Make the bevel as small as you can get away with but do it.For l=
ube ? its VASELINE all the way here  handy ang good on the hands.     have =
