[Vwdiesel] Rabbit Piston Rings.

Well, I've really done it now.
You might have guessed this is my 1st time doing this (ring
replacement). I have broken a couple rings so far driving the pistons
back into the cylinder. I have successfully installed 1 piston. I'm
using motor oil and thick black grease for the lube. The next piston
was really tight getting the top ring thru. I really drove the thing
in there with a hammer and a block of wood. Now the piston won't
budge. I guess the ring gap should have been enlarged a bit. I fit a
couple of rings in the cylinders 1st, but I did not try all rings in
all cylinders.
So, I guess I'll try to remove that piston, size the rings in the
cylinder to ensure fit, and try it again. This has been one of the
toughest parts of the rebuild. I hope I don't break too many more
rings!

Not giving up,
Ken
