[Vwdiesel] rings

Any diesel connecting rod that has a shouldered nut should have a
torque-angle bolt, unless someone replaced a regular nut with a shouldered
one.  This includes all TD engines, and certainly 1.6D since 82 or so I
expect.

On the gas side I believe that all 1.8 (and 2.0) engines use torque angle
bolts, while 1.6 and 1.7 do not.
