[Vwdiesel] thermostat & water pump sources and temp gauge

Although I can't say for certain I believe that this is the over-temp
cut-out for the a/c circuit.  It's supposed to kill the a/c when the
coolant temp gets too high (I think it's about 119c)

My 99 A3 TDI has one as well (uses the same upper rad hose as the AAZ
actually)  I can't remember if it was on my 97 Golf (AAZ) or not though -
but that car did not have A/C, the 99 does.
