Well, maybe it was just that I didn't know what I was doing, but I never
had a worse time trying to get a part to work. Turns out, when you get
mad enough, it's possible to pick up a 19mm combination wrench, throw it
like a knife, and bury it up to the box end in the ground. VW axles are
so small that the kit I was using required several compensator pieces to
get up to size. You have to glue those in place. Then you have to
somehow keep all grease out of the seam and then hope that the little
tiny tube of glue will be sufficient to glue the works together. I
really don't see all that working. In the years since, I have pulled
the axle and replaced the boot with an OEM one every time. Saves time
in the end.
