[Vwdiesel] settling down

I guess since the war's essentially over, Diesel prices are taking a
smaller bite out of my wallet. Filled up with 1.35 only because the
1.27 was a little too far away.

I'd still love to get a veggie oil thing going on, but now I'm not
living in fear of _having_ to do it or ride my bike down I-30.

While I was filling up at this satisfying price, a battered A2 Jetta
with two girls in it drove up behind my Jetta at the pump. The driver
jumped out and started asking me about my '85 and generally making
conversation--a prelude shared with many stories that begin with the
words, "I never thought it'd happen to me...." Then she asked if I'd
run in and fetch her out a pack of cigarettes. I looked down at the
ground, mumbled, "sorry", and drove off. Not so much that I begrudged
her the cigarettes. I just didn't think it'd work and I don't think I
could have made her understand it was because her Jetta...it just wasn't
a Diesel.

It's a cold and lonely world out there, waiting for that one smarter and
better looking woman.
