Thanks for asking, but this was on my new '85 Jetta. My old '85 Jetta with the stuck
VC has become a part donor since suffering shock tower rust out. I do plan on
employing some of the tips from various listees at some point, but I just haven't had
time yet. I had to rob a couple 10mm nuts of the old Jetta to replace nuts I stripped
trying to remove the old VC studs. I thought I could use the old double nut trick, but
most were too tight and ripped the threads out, so I resorted to vise-grips in the end,
which worked fine. I'll let you know when I finally have time to tackle the old Jetta VC,
probably about the same time I finally get tired of the gutless NA diesel and decide to
rebuild the old TD... ;-)
