(to bring folks up to date: over a month ago, I brought my 1983 vanagon to
a shop to have a brand new 1.9NA engine from overland installed)
Some of you VW dieselers may remember my problem of last week, where the
shop could not figure out why the timing belt was tight. Well, it turned
out that it supposed to be tight.
Well, today I stopped by to find out why the heck it engine was not done.
Well, they claim there is no oil pressure. So, can anyone give me pointers
to give them on why a brand new $#@%$#%^^$#% 1.9NA engine only has 14 psi
of oil pressure. I hate to think of everythings those gomer's could have
screwed up.
To their credit, they install an actuall pressure guage with copper tubing
to make sure the sending unit was ok. They also used a drill to turn the
oil pump (so they didn't destroy the engine with no oil pressure) to get
oil pressure.
My bet would be these guys:
1) Got crap into the oil channels
2) Did not install the oil pump/pickup correctly
3) Installed the oil filter/cooler assembly wrong
4) Are just too damn stupid
They have had the vanagon for over a month to install the engine. Sheesh,
I should have done it myself.
Thanks
(and sorry for being so frustrated)
