[Vwdiesel] ...of A2 Jettas and misaligned alternator belts.

  Today I finally took time to put a belt back on the Jetta.  I've just been
charging the battery every couple days for a while now.  :)
  I didn't want it eating any more belts so I figured I'd be pulling most
everything
out.  I went as far as the bracket that holds the front of the compressor
and the alt. tensioner.  Nothing loose or misaligned so back in it went with
only a little tweaking with a LARGE crescent wrench.  Things were still
far enough out that I was nowhere near happy so back out with the tensioner.
  The pedestal for it has about 4 to 5 mm then tapers in rises an inch and a
half or so then is turned to fit inside the idler bearing.  I ground most of
the
base off leaving only the taper and main body.  That was much better but
the alternator was now the biggest culprit.  I pulled the two piece pulley,
several various washers off and put a washer behind the fan to space it
all out just a bit more.  It's now close enough!  :)  I also tweaked the
bracket a bit more, in place with a bigger crescent.  :)
  Really strange since nothing was bent, tweaked or worn but it fixed up
pretty well.  :)
