greetings all:
i got into the rear brakes finally- pads were wore THROUGH the rivet and into
the backing plates! i swear po from h*ll.
drums checked out ok thankfully. one score wasnt completely cleaned by turning
but i will live with that.
my bearing and hardware kits came with new bearing seals. however they look
different than the original. old ones were pressed in and were simple 'donuts'
if you will. old seals were flush to the bore in the drum and in contact with
the rear race.
new ones are flanged and there is a gap between the seal and the bearing. seals
bear on the back of the spindle bore and they protrude a bit from the back of
the drum. seems strange. spindle has a boss that the bearing stops against, and
the seal appears to seal on this boss. new seals have audi logo on them.
does this right?
thanks in advance
dennis
