[Vwdiesel] 1982 Rabbit with 1.6, which head gasket

I have one of those electronic calipers. I just sit the long end on the
piston top and slide the depth doo-dad down to the block deck. I can
select which reading I desire... mm or inches.

Even most manual calipers should have the depth gauge feature.

Another method is to lay a straight edge on top of the piston and use
feeler gauges between the s'edge and block deck to find the distance.

Both will work equally as well.
