Subject vehicle: '91 Jetta TD 5-speed (this is the Cdn MF engine... 68 thro=
bbing HP... not the puny ECO one).

My repair place installed Red Line MT-90... it's SAE 75W90 API GL-4 gear oi=
l=2E Apparently GL-4 and GL-5 have different additives which need to be co=
mpatible with the type of gearbox synchronizers.

Drained the old fluid and suctioned the dregs, installed the new thru the s=
peedo cable. Torx "screw" if memory serves me correct. Used almost the en=
tire 1 US qt / 0.946 litre.

I noticed an improvement -- smoother winter shifting, easier 1st gear downs=
hift.
