Haven't had much time this week to work on the Caddy but I went to town
on it today (after I worked a while on my Daughter's car). Drilled the
downpipe and connected up the EGT, connected up the Oil temp sensor and
used a T fitting to connect the boost gauge. Removed the almost new
exhaust system from the old Pickup and transfered it to the rebuilt
one. Eventually I intend to have a 2" system installed but the stock
system will do for now. Tried to install the AC compressor and
Alternator and discovered that the I had installed the wrong bracket.
I had to remove the Injection pump to get at the top two bolts. Still
haven't gotten the compressor reinstalled because I am missing the
lower piece that is used to adjust the compressor. I will see if it is
still available from the dealer if not, I will scour the one local junk
yard that still has A1s in the yard. Anybody have this piece that
allow the compressor to slide up and down and then is bolted in place?
It is on the bottom of the bracket toward the front of the car.
Tomorrow I will reinstall the injection pump and reset the timing. BTW
anybody have the timing spec for an injection pump off of a 87-89 Jetta
TD? Probably won't get much done this week as I am going out of town
for thanksgiving. I hope everyone on this list can find at least one
thing to be thankful for this year. Later, Hayden
