[Vwdiesel] sticking caliper?

Mike,
Assuming you have replaced all of the fluid when doing this work...
Check the hose going to the caliper. Depending on how old it is, the
insides can flake, creating little flaps which will act like 'check
valves' which will hold pressure in the caliper.
This exact thing happened on my '97 Dodge Caravan. Like you, replaced
the caliper... no joy. Replaced the hose...perfect! Unfortunately for
me, I do these kinds of repairs as complete axles. $$$!!! At least I had
the peace of mind knowing both sides had all new(or rebuilt) calipers,
pads, and hoses.
If that doesn't do it, the only thing left would be the master cylinder.
