I followed with great interest the Bake and Bolt procedure. For straightening a twisted head.
Another - why did I not think of that ? .

There is another way of skinning that Bunny --- This one I have done.

Sand the bumps using a woodplane with sandpaper ----- then applying a thin coat
of Epoxy ---I used 3M Scotch Weld 2216/BA. I cut the head of a couple of
old headbolts and cut a slot in bolt for installing and removing. They are used as
temporary dowels. The epoxy prevents combustion gasses from creeping along
block and opening a route by rusting the iron. Yes epoxy will stand the temperatures
even in combustion chamber. ----That surprised the hell out of me too. On one
head years ago I spilled some epoxy inside chamber. And years later when I took
it apart (for other reasons) The epoxy looked as good as new. I should say that
I blast clean everything. So the epoxy stuck real good.
Done right it will seal the cracks between valves.

I never do any diesels anymore without the Epoxy trick. It fills small voids between
head and block as well. I let the epoxy start to set before intalling head.About
the feel of putty.

For you Hams out there I used this glue to fasten the solder tip on a Ungar Iron.
The grout had loosened. It glows in the dark --but the glue worked . It changed color
and cracked eventually . Still works, Did it in 1957.

Hagar.
