Was hagar ever a hippie ?  -- no just a wannabe. 

I am a brainwashed military type ---NATO  navy, army and airforce.----but I met a
lot of hippies. And the reason they liked the VW is much the same reason we like
the VW,.   ------- it is genius on wheels.  For all around performance --- the Beetle
has it.  And the rabbit diesel is pretty good too.
The hippies I met was mostly from USA --1967 to about 1974.  Long haired dirty losers ?.
Long haired ? --yes  -- Dirty --some times ----- but losers ?  not these were not.

I drove a Landrover 109 with a truck Cab to work in those days.  The hippies found that a good spot to hitchhike was a corner by the local mill.  One day a guy with a BIG hairy dog was standing there
so I took pity on him ---who in hell would stop with a normal car ?. He tried to stuff the
dog in the cab.So I told him Dog goes in the back, so he put the leach though the sliding window.

As we drove the smell hit me , and no amount of open vents would do it.He got out in town
and I told him --next time the DOG goes in front.

I know that some of you were lucky enough to get to Woodstock --- was a tally ever
made public ? as to how many went there.      Anyway I hope you had a good experience.
I am a lone Eagle most the time -- but a big gathering can be lots of fun.   I would not
be surprised to see Dieselfest NW be higly succesful. Location is perfect.

A fully grown Great Dane is a lap and a half --say I.   ---- Marmaduke comes to mind.

Funny my recollection is that it is a German dog.
