  THAT'S the reason NOT to drive with the cone out.  There's a seal on that 
guide pin.  I don't remember just what's behind it for pressure and such 
but it can load the LDA with diesel.  There's usually oil in there.  I think 
just pulling the throttle arm with the cone out will distend the pin.  You 
have to reach down in there and fiddle it back in (if it fell clear out) or 
just 
push it back in if it's just extended.  There's no return spring.
