[Vwdiesel] Broken Power Steering Bolts

I know exactly what Val Christian is saying --- I have the same kind of torches.
Airline torch ---incredible small torch ---that can be used on the smallest
of bolts.

It is Oxy-acetylene and the pin point heat is it. Very few people here have them
so we have to concentrate on other methods.

Yes I do use it at times --- and heat and cool and heat and cool ---works.

Vibration and hammering and heat works. So be patient.

I still get nightmares no matter what. Lets face it if it is stuck you have to do a bit of
magic. Left hand drills and taps are great --but who got those ?. (besides me?)

And James Hansen ?.

My preference are those four cornered outs , not the left hand thread things.

The left hand threads ones are fine for big bolts --- but they will expand if tightened
on small bolts and that is NO GOOD.

Most of you know what we are talking about , but I still have nightmares.

I would change a camshaft before doing a broken bolt in water-pump. Old Rabbits
can be nasty little critters. Ask me.

Hagar.

PS: use thread lube ALL the time.
