The oil used in the PW-119 engine in F/A-22 is synthetic.

  First thing that came to MY mind is the cost of certification and then

the inflated cost of a CERTIFIED synthetic.  Aviation certs tend to 
create high prices.  In the case of synthetic oil, probably too high 
to establish a good market for it?

  I think part of the split on this discussion is what you veered into;

Cheap 
vs. crappy oil.  When I reffer to crappy oil, I mean the stuff that
doesn't 
even have a good "S" rating and NO "C" rating.  ANY "C" rated oil is 
a decent oil it seems.  You just start splitting hairs once you get into

"C" rated oils.
