 First off it I'd check that all 4 of the mounting bolts are present and 
tight 
on the injector pump.  Especially the one below the injector lines.
  It doesn't sound like a typical clutch pack, seal or pump failure.  Lockup 
kicking in and out could do it but the rpm increase and decrease would 
be pretty sudden.  Not familiar with the guts of that tranny but in a GM 
it would be a bad pressure switch that kicks in the lockup.
