[Vwdiesel] 1.6 td transplants

Any rabbit cabriolet would make a good transplant in my opinion.  If you wish to use a real diesel fuel tank, stick to -84, as I believe all the floor pans changed over at that time and use a gas tank bolted to the body, not hung with straps.  I have two 84 sciroccos, the earlier serial number has a strap-on tank and a full size spare tire well.  The later one, which is converted to 1.6 NA diesel, has a bolt on tank and a donut sized tire well.  As all hatchbacks have the same floor pan, I would think this change was effective at about the same time on the cabrio, especially since they both came out of Karmann.  The only real issue with accessories is the alternator output.
