[Vwdiesel] Excessive blow by

A few years ago I bought a set of Total Seal rings for my (former)
Quantum TD project. At the time the whole ring set was $180. 

Now I understand you can buy just the 2nd ring set for much less.

As an aside: They are difficult to install. That is, keep in place when
installing the piston assy back into the block. Then again my ring
compressor is not the best either.

I never did see that engine run. Sold it and the car separately.

Honing is a BIG issue when installing Total Seal, or any rings on a VW
diesel. You gotta get it right.
