And have room for. The new orchard shop is nice, something like
40' X 40'. It's much bigger than the old one which was about 8 ' wider
and longer than a car give or take. It was nice, the new one is nicer
but if it were about 5' deeper and wider you could put 4 cars/tractors
in it at a time instead of two. Of course you wouldn't be able to since
they'd have stuff sitting around NEAR the edges as they do now!
I definitely concur on the TS rings! They're about $120 or so though
as I recall. Kinda spendy but really good. If that's just out of reach
then for $30 or $40 you can have your new rings modified to accept
the 2nd piece 2nd ring.
Go with new rings. You likely either have too much end gap, lined up
gaps, upside down ring or broken 2nd, possibly 1st ring or a combination.
Most of those will still give good compression unless really bad, but will
let oil through or blowby past. Be sure you clean out those ring grooves
too.
I usually just stuff those blue shop rags on a roll, down to the bottom
of the cylinders and well over the crank. When you're done honing, wash
with soap and water and rinse well. I just bucketed hot water over it a
couple times after pulling out the towels. Then wipe down the journals
good. :-)
