Good tip on slotted terminals, removes the "oh shit" problem when the nut
drops into the void. I will do this from now on too.
So you have taught me something. I would probably solder the lugs.

I use a "feel" method.
I adjust the tension to a reasonable degree, then with 2 thumbs and 2
fingers, try to move it back and forth on the pump sprocket (or the cam) .
If I can move it on the face of the sprocket about 3/16" either way without
bruising my thumbs, that's my calibrated tensioner.

It's not tight if it will slide a little bit, and it's too tight if it won't
budge.

Good idea to check it hot, as the engine "grows" a little bit when it's
warm, tightening it a bit more
