The  20L15T/S Schottky rectifier from Radio Spares is rated
at 20 amps 50 % duty cycle It has about 0.3 volts drop and
only absorbs 5 watts or so. reverse current between 1 and 10
mA. As I posted
before and rementioned by Hagar; a lot of the glowplugs are
rated at 11Volts so maybe our running the
plugs at something over 12volts from a powerful battery is a
source of GP burnout over time.

These cost about a £ here so $0.50 over your way for sure
