[Vwdiesel] Home heating fuel instead of diesel?

I was given about 125 gallons with a nice tank 300 gallon tank that was
pumped from an underground home heating tank that had taken on
ground water. I let it settle for a few days and siphoned the 15 or so
gallons of water from the bottom of the tank. I filter the fuel now and
pump it into a clear 3 gallon plastic jug and let it settle for a day to
make sure nothing remains in it that I don't want. It runs at least as well
as the diesel from the expensive pump. But I usually mix in 5 gallons or so
when I fill up with the pump stuff. In the states off road diesel and home
heating oil have a red dye added to them to designate that the road taxes
have not been paid and if you get caught using it on the road it is frowned
upon to say the least and will cost you big time. The guy that gave me my
fuel was going to dump it out and try to burn it. I figure since I headed
him off from doing that I will take my chances and use it, but only when I
am off roading and hill climbing with my Jetta, never on public
roads........... If I'm not mistaken off road diesel sold to farmers is
about the cost of home heating oil and I was told still had the higher
sulphur content (lubricant) of the good old diesel fuel before it was
reformulated a few years ago. I could be wrong though.
