Mike, the Passat Syncro was a Canada-only model, sold in 1991 and 1992, and
unfortunately, was not offered with a diesel. It was equipped with the 1.8L
G-lader supercharged engine, the same one used in the 1990-92 Corrado. I
have seen some Passat Syncro diesel conversions out there, however. When I
was getting my Passat TDI oil sprayed last year in Kitchener, ON, there was
a guy with a 1991 white Syncro wagon that he had converted to a 1.9L AAZ TD
engine. He daid the conversion was quite easy, since the Passat was offered
at that time with the 1.9 in the FWD models.
Might be worth taking a look at anyway!
Happy Boxing Day!
