[Vwdiesel] Run out of fuel

How do you bleed the fuel system when there is fuel in the system...do you
have to bleed by loosening the injectors...or is there a bleeder nipple
somewhere...



  Technically you can just crank it until it starts.  That takes a lot of 
cranking 
sometimes.  Simplest is to fill the injector pump, from the return banjo and 
start.  This is difficult to impossible on a TD so you can fill the pump best 

as you can from the inlet.  Also fill the filter.  If you can pressurize the 
tank then open the bleed on the filter until it spurts fuel instead of air.  
Also pull the return line and let the pressure in the tank push the air 
out of the line. It's just the return line but it does seem to make quite 
a difference on a drained system.
