On your water leak.... It HAS to be the panel seam at the bottom of the
window on the body. This seems to be a poor design area on the PU's as
I have one that sat for years in the desert and collected enough water
in that cavity of rust through! I suppose you could eventually get the
gasket gooped-up enough to stop any seeps but it would be messy. I
have two solutions for you to consider. The first and easiest is to
remove the window and gasket, completely seal off the seam with a bead
of silicone forcing it into the seam with your finger, let it dry and
replace the window. Another idea (and to prevent any further rusting as
it excludes air) is to drill a couple of holes in the panel and fill the
void with foam insulation. Keep in mind if you try this that the void
continues into the the quarter panel behind the door and on into the
double walled bed! So, to conserve on foam and patience I would
recommend that you seal off the ends of the cavity under the window by
situating the holes near the ends of the cavity and just plugging the
ends first. Allow to set-up and then fill the middle section. The foam
can act as a sound deadner also! Then you have to fix the holes that
you drilled if you want it to look nice.
