[Vwdiesel] 88 diesel swapped into a 95 Golf ? opinions needed, etc.

Just trying to explore my options as to what to get for my next car.  I'm
maybe trading my current driver (a Pathfinder) and have weetled the options
down to the following:

-92 Jetta gasser, 5 speed, 242k kms. Newish paint, looks nice.
-95 Golf (I think a CL) 1.8L ? gasser, 5 speed. 188k kms

Both would pretty much be a straight trade for the Pathy.

I have a 1988 Jetta 1.6L turbo diesel with good engine and tranny (floor &
struts are shot) as backup/parts for the possible 92 Jetta purchase, which
may be an "easy" swap.??

My question really is....can the 1.6L TD be stuffed EASILY into the 95 Golf?
