The part initally described does sound very much like the proportioning
valve. $120 from the dealer last I checked (4 years ago). So you
should be able to get in cheaper. There's some kind of adjustment to
make to get your brakes balanced out. Involves four pressure gauges,
etc. If I remember right, I just marked where the adjustment (the bolt
in the slot) was on the old one and put the new one in the same place.
Seems to be OK years later....
