"Also I would like to hear from someone who sent samples of oil to a lab
for testing. Was it worth the money ????"

A scientific laboratory oil analysis is always worth the money. You'll
know exactly what condition the oil is in, how often your oil needs to
be changed, and exactly what condition you engine itself is in.

The Blotter test ranks right up there with non-detergent oil, bias-ply
tires, and rotary-dial telephones. It works, but not nearly as well, or
accurate, as a true oil analysis.

Hey Hagar, if you haven't noticed yet, we're living in the 21st century,
not the 19th century. Don't be afraid of change. Don't be afraid of
technology.

Well Chrissy J. Thornton, I guess you really ripped your drawers with
Hagar. The man is an icon of this discussion forum and could assuredly
"out-tech" you at will. Think twice before you jab at simple and
cost-efficient methodologies. Not all of us even have access to such
testing. Austin has it all I know, I used to live there and even went
to UT likely before you were out of tree-cornered pants. Now I live in
rural Idaho. To have crankcase oil analyzed would be a major ordeal and
expense especially for a $500 diesel Rabbit. Ease-up on the oldskool
tech. You might sell more oil!
