Since you don't have a butterfly in the airflow to restrict airflow when
your foot comes off the throttle like a gas engine does, you will not
experience the same braking effect due to the vacuum. That's one thing that
makes the diesel so efficient- the unrestricted airflow, and higher
resulting volumetric efficiency.
