Here is little bit more later. :
My apprenticeship in the great white north was interesting
to say the least 42 below.for days on end. You learn fast or
you don't go skiing.
Neatest trick I learned was to install a 6 Volt starter in late october.
and remove it in may.
Taking starter apart and lubricate it with dry moly spray, works wonders.
Kevin Jack a good idea is to separate glowplugs and use a separate
battery. Glowplugs uses an amazing amount of power. New style
plugs can be left on 3 minutes at the time so thats help a lot in starting.
The nerdier of us connect a 6 Volt car battery in series with starter
for really cold starts. 18 Volts works great.
Cetane improver is available in montreal from chemical suppliers. It is a
must have in my book.Look for name in archives Diesel Fuel 101 or Fuel 101.
what the hell here it is :
Standard chemical cetane improve ( north America) is 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate.=
Is it expensive ? not at all if you get it from a wholesaler.
Can you get the cetane number up too high ??? not a chance.
Hagar.
