I just had an experience with those little booster batteries. We had a near zero day and it wasn't enough to help get me started. I ended up getting a jump from a dodge turbo diesel with two batteries and even this took awhile and several tries.

Next day, it wasn't quite as cold but I took my 12V to 110 inverter and plugged it into the little booster battery and plugged the block heater into the inverter about an hour before I needed to leave. It started right up but when I went to recharge the little booster it was really discharged. It took all day to get it back to full charge.
