Could have been a slow glow relay or you may have a bad temp. sender or wiring that causes the one relay to tstay on extra long.  I've seen that happen in testing various relays, all fast glow, but when given out of range temp sender input ("T" terminal)
they sometime go crazy, stay on a long time, turn on and off at random, etc.
