So what does the LDA have to do with mileage ? everything ---it works as a
mixture control
and will work on all the Rabbits Turbo or not.
How is that? I wouldn't say it's a mixture control as it increases fuel
BUT as air pressure thus volume, is increased. That would just maintain
the mixture required for the current status. More air, more fuel rather than
same or a little more air and quite a bit more fuel.
How is a NA diesel supposed to do ANYTHING with a LDA? It's a bump
on the log until it gets air pressure. There's no air pressure on a NA
so it's sort of like putting a 5 speed shift knob on a 4 speed car. Might
look nifty and impress a few friends but it ain't gonna do nuttin for you!

That's sort of defeating the purpose of having one at all. The reason for
one is to AUTOMATICALLY give you more power as it's required. More
boost = more fuel = more power. If you only want a certain amount then
rotate the cone for least increase, set the spring perch up higher or set the
stop so that it only moves under close to full boost and then set maximum
fuel down for no smoke. Otherwise just use a NA pump, crank the fueling
up a bit and keep the floor mat pushed up under the pedal until you
want more power and pull the mat back. Sort of like replacing a GP
relay with a push button when you've never had a problem with the
automatic function of the glow plugs. Just makes a manual function
out of something that works fine automatically and you can even
set it as you like! :)
