It is a very early head. Save your money unless you have a 1.5.
The part numbers you mention are not head numbers per se, only casting
numbers. VW tracks assembled heads with an overall part number that is
different from the casting number. Most of their cast parts will have a
manufacturing date cast into them also. This is usually a series of
number arranged in a circle with the year in the middle. List member use
of the 373 and letter codes from the casting is merely based on
anecdotal evidence of application as that is what we have available to
look at. VW does not put their true part number on the darn things.
