Anyone care to comment one way or another?


Yes  Val I have a few words to add ------  a few years ago a pipefitter handed me a tube
of   "pipe dope ?" ---   to be used in place of white Teflon tape.    He told me
that if I used it ,  It may be impossible do unscrew later.  I got the impression it
was like a mixture of Teflon and crazy glue.

I am a magic potions fanatic.  diesel witchdoctor type --- so my collection is
LARGE.

I use never sneeze (marine grade) on ALL thread ,  but he may just  have something.

The tests I did with the pipe dope proved to me that it is good stuff for sealing pipes.

Did he explain why he is using it ? rather than thread lube ? Let us know if you use it.

Taking it apart later may be interesting.   What diameter head bolts ?.

Here is a case where it is bad :     V8 diesel---- head breaks off headbolt ---remove
bolt using easy out -- install new bolt and drive.
With pipe dope on thread ?   -- Head has to be removed.
