Subject: Rabbit droppings # 98 ---- ( Magic potions )

Having worked for a living for more than 60 years ----- convinced me that magic potions
are to be found in every discipline ---including diesels.

A few drops of KODAK wetting agent and your pictures are totally free of water marks.

A jar of Vaseline can do wonders. Nivea creme anyone ? and not to forget Zinc paste
in the medicine cabinet. And for a paleface maggot like me --how's about sun screen ?
Without I would die in the sun.

A had the good luck of working for a wonderful person by the name Jack Luccock -- and
the first thing you learned working for him -- was that his magic potion has to be used
on ALL threads. Small guy from the UK -- but a giant personality.

I asked a fellow worker --- what is it with this guy why cant I use never sneeze ?
He said wait and see---- he is making a batch tomorrow. His crew was about 8
and sure as hell --we were all told to observe. It was like a religious ritual. He
mixed all the stuff right there in front of us.---- Snake oil (not any snake) red lead,
white lead , graphite flakes , and many other ingredients. Then we all got a small
container and a brush. ------ If he found out later that you were to lazy to use it ?
--- too horrible to contemplate.

Moral ? use a thread lube. In the time I worked there (big fish plant) I never
came across a rusty thread. Despite the chlorine wash downs and salt water exposure.

As a direct result of that education --- I can go to the 1982 Rabbit NA 1.6L and remove
the complete exhaust system (pipes) in no time flat using only my 4 inch 100 mm
Klein Tools adjustable wrench. Yes that includes those spring clamps. Remember
what I said all along ? ---if you are struggling with that stupid Hitler's revenge thing ?
There is a BETTER way.
More than 60 years of rusted pipes etc --- makes me nominate the exhaust system on
the 198X Rabbit for the Nobel price of excellence in design. Never have I ENJOYED
working on exhaust pipes ---until I met a Rabbit. Detroit is eons behind.

Hagar .

PS: The Klein is in my back pocket at all times. And was it FISH oil ?
