[Vwdiesel] 83 Audi 5000 TD available in Cleveland, OH

An 83 Audi 5000 turbo diesel has appeared in the classified section of The 
Cleveland (Ohio) Plain Dealer, at an asking price of $650. I bring this to 
your attention only as an item of interesting information, and not as an 
attempt to sell a car or announce an auction. To me, this is an interesting 
historical vehicle. I drove several of them when they were new and once 
wanted to own one.

Mileage is listed at 130k.  The transmission is an automatic. Owner says it 
gets 40+ mpg and has every option.

I am posting this to give members of the list an opportunity to 
investigate, and have no personal knowledge about either the specific 
vehicle or the owner or the street address.  I do have several original 
sales brochures for them that define every specification.

The brochure indicates that the '83 Audi 5000 TD is equipped with in-line 
engine running at 23/1 compression and having 1986 cc displacement. 
This  5  cylinder had 84 HP, and the automatic transmission had an "E" mode 
in addition to the normal selector positions.  "E" mode disengaged the 
engine and allowed coasting when the driver let up on the accelerator. The 
literature showed EPA mpg estimates at 28/36.  Owner claims 40+.
