Shalyn : Step one take good pictures and post. The pool of talent here is
beyond comprehension. Each and everyone of us know at least say ten
highly skilled people in all kinds of fields. So you have thousands who may be willing to
help.
Here is an anecdote to cheer you up.: Some years ago just as I started fooling
around with 1.5 L NA engines. I bumped in to a Hillbilly mechanic in town.(Robert)
Another fellow in town took his rabbit to a REAL diesel machine-shop for a valve job
and rings. The shop phoned and said they could not do the job ---the head was cracked
and not repairable. Trying to find a used head he ran in to Robert. Robert took one look
and said --PUT IT BACK ON -- they are all cracked. Well that got me going --I checked all
my heads --and sure as hell they were all cracked. Then I contacted VW and got the
specks. So what you need is help from a real good hillbilly mechanic. I think Loren
mentioned epoxy already if not I will. --IT WORKS.
I feel that James Hansen and Loren both use epoxy on production equipment --I use it
mostly as a hobby.
So, unless someone knows of a
genius machine shop with a really awesome guarantee.
By the way use the Bentley names for the parts so we can understand what you
are saying. Are you saying that cam-follower bore is scored ? , but valve guide is ok ?
If you post some good pictures --I for one will show them to a couple of the worlds
best hillbilly mechanics. One is a Norwegian genius and the other is a Limy.(Robert).
Hagar.
PS: too bad you are not a bit closer --I relish dealing with problems like this.
BY the way there are only two types of GM 5.7 V8 diesel heads --cracked ones
and the ones that are going to crack- I have a 5 foot stack of heads down below.
All cracked.
