[Vwdiesel] (off) Ford Tractor Diesel

that really surprises me!! hours don't mean a whole
lot to me, so i always convert them to a rough
estimate of miles by multiplying by 50 - which would
mean 200k!

since most injectors are to be replaced with 100k or
less miles on them, i'm definitely surprised that they
say it's not time to do them yet.

i don't really know what to say. but i just set up my
injector tester that i got off ebay and tested some
peugeot diesel injectors that i have laying around -
the pattern was horrible. i can't wait to rebuild a
few and see a nice clean pattern and then see how that
affects the engine.

but if you want an independent opinion of the
injectors take them off and have them tested by a shop
that specializes in diesel injection. the one i like
in my area will test them for free. (tho i've never
once had them come back and tell me that the injectors
were good. they've always been high miles, but i'm
still surprised that not ONCE have they said that one
was good.)

if you do much of your own work and have more than
just one diesel you should seriously think about
getting a tester. there's practically nothing to
rebuilding injectors, and it doesn't take more than a
couple jobs to pay for it. mine costed $200, and while
it's not quite as nice as the snap on ones, it's good
enough for my occasional use. and it's really nothing
more than a bottle jack type pump with a high pressure
gauge that connects to the injector. i can get
injector nozzles for $8, and the shop charges $28 per
for rebuilding. so that's $20 each in labor that i'm
saving.
