OK, I get it. You're just adding to all the reasons why I made a bad
decision avoiding an ECO in 91. Arrrgh!
Val
Val decision was right if we talk money only. A turbo crapping out is money-- man.
Mar 2003 I knew Jack about the turbo in this 84 Rabbit --- was convinced it was junc
due to the price.
All you guys who helped me get it under control know who you are ---so thanks one more time.
She is tamed now. But WILD she was , and Lee it was not all in jest ---- I had troubles
on the first drive. The throttle cable was hooked up close to fulcrum and ALL fueling was set
for climbing trees like Mark Shepherd can tell you about. The turbo was gummed up and
when the flame was lit she would break loose and peel rubber.150 HP ? that's what it felt like.
And every color smoke you like --Grey and black and LOTS. Not to forget smoke from
tyres. (that's for Mark) ----scary but fun. -------- scary because I got to enter highway right
from driveway. ----- 100 ton logging trucks sailing by here at 100 MPH. Had a real close
one in the 1982 Rabbit -- a tanker truck coming up my ass ---- his excuse ? Liquid would
shift forward so he could not stop. Too bad it was not diesel .Fun because she really moved.
Talking about trucks I did the Autobahn a couple of times --and in Germany they were allowed several pups ---like a bloody train ? - How the hell would they back up ?.
NO speed limit ---that was an interesting experience.
Not a good place for Rabbits and Beetles. ------
Hagar.
PS: I read the ECO web page -----interesting -- but some was wrong.
