1982 VW Pick-Up Diesel, 5 speed, sun-roof, red, not
running.
This truck was a daily driver until I decided to
overhaul the engine. Engine block and cylinder head
were professionaly overhauled at a known diesel
machine shop here in Portland. After the overhaul,
engine run fine until I attempted to re-torque the
cylinder head-bolts (11mm). It did not go well. One
thread gave way and is now stripped. At that point, I
lost interest in this truck. Engine could possibly run
again if re-threaded to 12 mm. I know, this is a
mismatch, 11mm engine block and 12mm cylinder head.
But thats, how I bought this truck.
Work done so far:
Engine block completely overhauled, honed and bored
(new pistons, rings, bearings etc.), have receipts.
Cylinder head (12mm) completely overhauled,
resurfaced, new valves and guides, have receipts.
Rebuilt alternator, recent brake job (complete, front
and rear).
Overall condition:
The truck is in very good mechanical condition, no
rust anywhere ( bought in California).
In the past, it had A/C but the compressor and bracket
is gone. The front and the cab has good paint, but the
left side of the truck bed has small chips, scratches
and the paint is dull. Inside, the dashboard was
replaced. The colors of dashboard and doors do not
match. Driver side seat is worn and need to be
repaired or replaced. The windshield has a crack. Tire
thread is ca. 75%. It has a clear Washington State
title.
So far I have over $1000 invested in parts and labor
alone. I am asking $850 for it, as is where is
(Portland, OR). I will trow in a good, rebuildable
(12mm) engine block from an '84 Jetta. If I can't sell
it here, it'll go on Ebay. Email me for additional questions.
